Final exams are just around the corner, are you prepared? If not, you still have plenty of time to study. So go ahead, grab your books and some snacks and get started with these simple tips to help you ace your final exams.
Eliminating distractions
Make sure you turn off your cellphone, your computer if you are not using it for studying purposes, and your TV. These electronics can be distracting to you when you are trying to study. Also, make sure you are in a quiet, comfortable room. If you need some noise, turn on quiet, calm music. This will help you increase productivity.
Create a practice test, or ask for one
Writing out a test is a good way to get familiar with the information in a test-structure. Who knows, the questions you create could even be identical to questions on the test. If you don’t feel comfortable creating a new test, ask your teacher if there is an old exam you can look at. Some teachers may not allow you to look over an old test, but it is worth a try.
Study with a partner
Studying with a partner in your class can be a great way to learn the material. However, if you are incapable of staying on task with other students, it is best to study alone. When working with a partner, you are able to quiz each other on the material. Test each other on difficult concepts and learn the information together.
Study with a group
When studying with a group, you are able to discuss the concepts of the class. If you have a question, it is likely that someone in the group will know the answer. A great method for studying with a group is assigning each member of the group a topic to teach to the group. If you can teach the information, chances are you know it very well.
Reward yourself
Remember to reward yourself for a job well done. Whether your reward is a study break or a treat, celebrate your studying efforts in any way you would like. These rewards, no matter how small, will keep you studying for longer amounts of time.
